PSV Eindhoven is pleased to confirm the signing of Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia from Manchester United on loan until June 2025. The loan agreement represents the full salary of Malacia for the period in question and contains an option to buy that is not obligatory for the amount of €10 million. In addition, Manchester United shall receive 30% when a possible future transfer of Malacia takes place.
Malacia, 25, passed his medical in Eindhoven earlier today and has signed the contract to confirm his return to the Eredivisie following his initial departure in 2022. The left-back started his professional career with Feyenoord, whom he made 136 appearances for and was often praised for both his defensive skills and attacking threats down the flank.
Tyrell Malacia completed his transfer and moved to Manchester United in July 2022, signing until June 2026, with an option to extend for another year. He featured in a total of 45 Old Trafford games in various competitions with full zeal and passion, but this current 2023/24 campaign was catastrophic as he stayed off the pitches due to serious injury to the knee.
PSV Eindhoven considered signing Malacia in August 2024, but decided not to pursue it because he was not fit enough at that point. Fully fit now, Malacia is eager to get integrated into Dutch football and be able to contribute toward PSV’s ambitions for the rest of the season.
Sporting Director Earnest Stewart said: “Tyrell brings a lot of experience and much knowledge of the Dutch game into our team. His defensive quality and his contributions to attack ing will be really important for a season in which we hope to be successful on a number of fronts.”
Malacia also expressed his excitement: “Returning to the Eredivisie with PSV is a great opportunity. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success and reconnecting with Dutch football fans.”
The loan agreement includes an option for PSV to buy Malacia permanently for €10 million at the end of the loan period. This flexibility gives the club an opportunity to assess his impact before making a long-term commitment.
Malacia will now join his new teammates immediately and is expected to be available for selection in upcoming fixtures. The addition bolsters PSV’s defensive options as the team embarks on the domestic and European tournaments.
