Latest round of Premier League Transfer News Aston Villa Sign Yasin Özcan
In the latest Premier League transfer news, Aston Villa Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of highly-rated Turkish centre-back Yasin Özcan from Kasımpaşa. The 18-year-old defender has committed to a contract extending until June 2029, with the transfer valued at €8 million, inclusive of add-ons.
Özcan was born on April 20, 2006, in Kâğıthane, Turkey. He measures 1.85 meters in height and operates as a centre-back or left-back. He had his developmental phase from the local clubs İl Özel İdaresispor and Karadolap Gençlikspor before joining Kasımpaşa’s youth academy in 2018. He finally began to make on-field professional appearances against İstanbul Başakşehir in the Süper Lig on 8 August 2022. Notably, he scored his first senior goal on January 21, 2023, becoming one of the youngest scorers in European football this season.
In three full seasons with Kasımpaşa, Özcan made 77 league games, netting four times in them, while performing decently well in the defensive function, very often showing his flexibility. Such performances brought him into the team of the best players born in 2006 according to The Guardian.
At the international level, Özcan has represented Turkey in all youth categories, earning 12 caps with the U21 national team. His defensive qualities and calmness have made him one of the most promising talents of his generation.
It excites the management at Aston Villa because Özcan has the potential to further strengthen the backline. On the signing, the club stated: “Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of Yasin Özcan from Kasımpaşa on a pre-contract agreement.”
Özcan will stay with Kasımpaşa into this season to complete his development phase before ultimately joining Aston Villa ahead of the 2025–26 season. This becomes strategic, in line with Villa’s commitment to developing talents for a solid future in tournaments.
The club and its fans await the arrival of Özcan, who is expected to bring much to Aston Villa’s ambitions in both domestic and European football.
Hope he becomes a good signing
