Valencia CF is thrilled to announce the signing of Nigerian international striker Umar Sadiq on loan from Real Sociedad until June 30, 2025. The deal, finalized today, includes an option for Valencia to purchase Sadiq at the end of the season for a fee of less than €10 million. Valencia will also pay a €1 million loan fee as part of the agreement.

This transfer marks the first signing under new manager Carlos Corberan, who aims to bolster Valencia’s attacking options amid a challenging season. The club has struggled offensively, scoring just 17 goals in 18 league matches. Sadiq’s arrival is seen as a pivotal move to enhance the team’s performance and secure their La Liga status.

Sadiq, 27, previously joined Real Sociedad in September 2022 as a replacement for Alexander Isak. However, his time at La Real has been marred by injuries, limiting his contributions to just three goals in 50 appearances across all competitions. After a significant knee injury sidelined him for much of last season, Sadiq is eager to revive his career at Valencia.

In his official presentation, Sadiq expressed his enthusiasm for joining the club: “Valencia CF are one of the biggest clubs in Spain, and I have a lot of hunger to do well here.” He emphasized that both he and the club share a common goal of growth and success. The striker is optimistic about making an immediate impact and helping Valencia climb the league table.

Valencia’s management views this loan as a low-risk opportunity to assess Sadiq’s abilities before committing to a permanent transfer. If he performs well during his loan spell, the club can exercise their option to buy him outright.

Sadiq’s experience in European football includes stints at several clubs such as UD Almería, where he scored 43 goals in 84 appearances and played a key role in their promotion to La Liga. His diverse background also includes time at Partizan Belgrade, Rangers, and Bologna, showcasing his versatility and skill as a forward.
