The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rudi Garcia as the new head coach of the Belgium national football team. Garcia succeeds Domenico Tedesco, who departed following a series of disappointing results.
Rudi Garcia, 61, brings a distinguished coaching career spanning over two decades. He first garnered attention by leading Lille OSC to a historic Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double in 2011. His tenure at AS Roma from 2013 to 2016 was marked by consecutive second-place finishes in Serie A, underscoring his ability to compete at the highest levels of European football. Garcia further demonstrated his tactical acumen by guiding Olympique Lyonnais to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in the 2019-2020 season, orchestrating memorable victories against powerhouses such as Juventus and Manchester City.
Garcia’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the Belgium national team. The RBFA has expressed confidence that his extensive experience and strategic vision will reinvigorate the squad as they prepare for upcoming international competitions.
