A closer look at how Nigerian Players fared for their European club sides over the past weekend.

Newly signed Gift Orban scored his first goal for Hoffenheim in Sunday’s Bundesliga fixture against Frankfurt. Orban who was making his third appearance since joining from Lyon this January transfer, came on in the 63rd minute to draw Hoffenheim level in the 65th minute after Hugo Ekitike had given Frankfurt the lead on 26 minutes.

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were both in action as Manchester United pipped Fulham 1-0 in Sunday’s Premier League game at Craven Cottage. Iwobi, who was making his 23rd appearance, has scored seven goals and bagged three assists this ongoing season for Fulham.

Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon set up Mostafa Mohamed for Nantes’ equaliser in the 90th minute to take his tally for assists in Ligue 1 to six following Nantes’ 1-1 draw with Lyon on Sunday.

Nigerian International Christantus Uche shone like a million stars as he scored a goal and grabbed an assist as Getafe defeated Real Sociedad 3-0 in Sunday’s La Liga clash. It was his 24th appearance and has netted two goals and bagged one assist already this ongoing season for Getafe.

Striker Cyriel Dessers was on target as Rangers came from a goal down to beat Dundee United 3-1 away in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday. He has now scored in four consecutive games and also netted six times in his last four games. However, fellow countryman Leon Balogun was not included in Rangers’ Matchday squad.

Samuel Chukwueze made a glorious return from a hamstring injury to net a stoppage time winner that saw AC Milan to a 3-2 win against Parma in Sunday’s Serie A game. He came off the bench in the 57th minute and bagged the winner in the 95th minute.

Super Eagles Captain William Troost-Ekong was in action for Al Kholood in their 2-1 win against Al Raed in the Saudi League on Saturday. It was the Nigeria international’s 17th appearance for Al Kholood in the league this season.

Talisman, Victor Osimhen scored the only goal from the penalty spot as Galatasaray defeated Konyaspor 1-0 at the RAMS Park on Saturday night. The 26-year-old has now scored 12 goals in 15 league league appearances for the Turkish giants.

Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi were both in action and at the receiving end of a humiliating defeat after Bournemouth thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Vitality stadium on Saturday afternoon. Aina was taken off in the 79th minute while Awoniyi came on the same time.

Tolu Arokodare scored once and also registered an assist as KRC Genk defeated Westerlo 2-1 at Her Kuipje on Saturday.

Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman was in action as Atalanta defeated Como 2-1 in Saturday’s Serie A game. The reigning African player of the year has made 19th appearances so far, netting 10 goals and bagging five assists this ongoing season for Atalanta.

Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo were both in action as Southampton suffered yet another damning defeat at home to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon. The 3-1 loss further dampen hopes of avoiding the drop this season.
