REVIEW: Nigerian Players Abroad Over The Weekend.

Several Nigerian players were in action over the weekend in the active Premier League and Italian Serie A.

In Serie A, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored his second goal in nine games for Lazio, helping his team secure a 1-1 draw against Atalanta. Dele-Bashiru has now scored four goals in 14 games across all competitions this season.

Reigning CAF Player of the year Ademola Lookman, who played against Lazio and fellow countryman Dele-Bashiru, provided the assist for Atalanta’s late equalizer and was named Man of the Match. Lookman has been impressive this season, with five assists and nine goals in 15 Serie A games.

In the Premier League, Wilfred Ndidi missed Leicester City’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City due to injury. Ndidi has made 15 appearances and provided four assists for Leicester City this season.

Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi featured in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win over Everton, with Aina playing the full 90 minutes and Awoniyi coming on in the 76th minute. Forest’s victory took them to second place in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Liverpool.

Paul Onuachu and Joe Aribo played for Southampton in their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace. Onuachu, still searching for his first goal for Southampton, started the game but was substituted in the 65th minute. Aribo was also replaced in the 51st minute. Southampton remains at the bottom of the Premier League table with just six points from 19 games.

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey played and impressed for Fulham in their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

In another Serie A match, Samuel Chukwueze played for AC Milan in their 1-1 draw against AS Roma. Chukwueze made his 17th league appearance this season before being substituted in the 62nd minute for Tammy Abraham.
