Real Madrid C.F. has become the first football club to surpass €1 billion in revenue, reporting an operating income of €1.073 billion for the 2023/24 financial year. This represents a 27% increase from the previous year’s €843 million.

On-Field Success Fuels Financial Growth

The club’s football first team secured the UEFA Champions League, LaLiga, and the Spanish Super Cup during the 2023/24 season. The basketball team also excelled, winning the League, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup, and reaching the EuroLeague final. These accomplishments have significantly enhanced the club’s global profile and revenue streams.

Strategic Commercial Expansion

Real Madrid’s commercial strategy has been instrumental in achieving this financial milestone. The club has expanded its merchandising and sponsorship activities, notably securing a new sleeve sponsorship deal with HP. Despite ongoing renovations at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, there has been a progressive increase in capacity and commercial operations, including new VIP experiences and hosting major events, leading to a significant rise in stadium-related revenues.

Financial Resilience and Profitability

The club’s operating profit before depreciation (EBITDA) reached €156.3 million, reflecting effective financial management and operational resilience. After-tax profits amounted to €15.6 million, a 32% increase from the previous year. These figures underscore Real Madrid’s robust financial health, especially during a period when many European clubs have faced financial challenges.

Santiago Bernabéu Stadium Renovation

The ongoing renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium represents a significant investment in the club’s future. With total investment reaching €1.163 billion, the project is set to complete in the 2024/25 season. The modernized stadium is expected to unlock new revenue streams and enhance the matchday experience for fans worldwide.

Leadership Perspective

Club President Florentino Pérez addressed the General Assembly, stating, “Despite the difficulties, Real Madrid has become the first football club in the world to exceed one billion euros in revenue.” He emphasized the club’s commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

As the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium renovation nears completion, Real Madrid is poised to continue its trajectory of financial growth and sporting excellence. The club remains dedicated to maintaining its leadership position in global football, driven by strategic initiatives and a commitment to its fans and stakeholders.
