RB Leipzig is happy to announce the signing of Xavi Simons from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). After a good loan spell, both teams agreed on an €80 million deal. Leipzig will pay €55 million upfront and some bonuses based on his performance. If Leipzig sells him later, PSG will also get a cut. Simons is set to stay with Leipzig until June 2027.

Xavi Simons, now 21, joined Leipzig on loan in July 2023. He was impressive, scoring 10 goals and setting up 15 more in 43 games. His strong play was key for Leipzig in the Bundesliga and in Europe.

This permanent deal shows Leipzig’s focus on developing young talent and improving their squad. Simons can play in different spots, making him very useful.

“We are really happy to keep Xavi with us for a long time,” said Oliver Mintzlaff, the CEO of RB Leipzig. “His performance has been fantastic, and we believe he will be important for our future.”

Simons shared his excitement: “Leipzig has felt like home since I arrived. The fans, coaches, and my teammates have been awesome. I can’t wait to keep working towards our goals together.”

This transfer also helps PSG. It allows them to loan defender Milan Škriniar to Fenerbahçe. PSG was at their limit for loans under UEFA rules, so Simons moving opens up a chance for Škriniar. RB Leipzig looks forward to seeing Xavi Simons grow and help the club achieve even more in the future.
