Liverpool continued its scintillating form since the beginning of this season on Tuesday when it beat resilient Girona in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League through a Mohamed Salah penalty to remain top of the Champions League table. The win means they’ve maintained a perfect record and stayed top of the competition this season despite already playing Bayern Leverkusen, AC Milan, and holders Real Madrid.

Liverpool is also at the top of the Premier League table with 35 points from 14 matches, which means that Arne Slot has had a dream start as the Liverpool manager.

Premier League Awards

Today, the league handlers announced Arne Slot and Salah as English Premier League manager and Player of the Month of November, respectively. These awards come as recognition of the massive shift the duo has been putting into Liverpool’s EPL title surge. Despite the postponement of the Merseyside Debby last weekend, Liverpool remained top of the Premier League summit, leading second-placed Chelsea by four points with a game in hand. Arsenal are six points behind, while last season’s champions, Manchester City, remain in the distant fourth, lagging by a massive eight points.

Liverpool’s perfect record during their three-game month helped put both Player and coach in prime position for the award.

The Reds came from a goal down to defeat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 in the opening match week of November. They went on to beat Aston Villa 2-0 in the same home ground before traveling to Southampton to complete a perfect month with a 3-2 victory over The Saints.

While amassing the trio of victories, Salah scored an incredible four goals within the month in focus. However, it was the context of the strikes that made his goals remarkable and deserving of the award. The match against Brighton saw the Reds trail 1-0 until the 70th minute before Gakpo’s equalizer. But it was Salah’s 72nd-minute winner that topped headlines after the match week. He was a scorer and provider in the 2-0 win against Aston Villa, scoring two against Southampton to grab a late winner for Liverpool against a resilient Saints.

The prolific forward has maintained an admirable cool-headedness despite all the talks about his contract situation. He’s never shied away from talking about his desire to stay at Anfield, but he’s also maintained absolute professionalism while the club tries to work something out.

Slot has enjoyed his time at Anfield so far, and he’s always attributed victories to the spirited on-field efforts of his team. We cannot help but talk about Slot’s in-game tweaks and how pivotal they’ve been to Liverpool’s success so far this season.

This may be Slot’s first Manager of the Month award since moving from Feyenoord to Liverpool, but he’s certainly poised for bigger awards if he continues in the form he started.
