Liverpool stay perfect in the Champions League, top of the league phase with 6 wins from 6 games. Mohamed Salah’s penalty was enough to secure all three points after they rode out something of a storm at Girona. The Spanish team must rue not being able to build on their first half performance.

Mohamed Salah’s 50th UEFA Champions League goal sealed a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Liverpool at Girona, maintaining their 100% record in the competition this season. The Egyptian forward converted a penalty in the 63rd minute, notching his 16th goal of the season.

Alisson, returning from a hamstring injury since early October, made several crucial saves throughout the match, particularly in the first half. Darwin Nunez had opportunities to score, but it was Salah’s spot-kick that proved decisive.

The penalty was awarded after a VAR review, following a challenge by Donny van de Beek on Luis Diaz. Salah’s goal secured Liverpool’s sixth consecutive win in the UEFA Champions League, solidifying their top spot in the standings.

Girona, meanwhile, suffered their fifth defeat in six matches, leaving them 30th in the table. Liverpool will now shift their focus to the Premier League, hosting Fulham on Saturday, while Girona visit Mallorca in La Liga.
