AFC Bournemouth and West Ham United shared the spoils in a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium, with two late set-piece goals stealing the headlines.

The Cherries’ substitute Enes Ünal scored a stunning 90th-minute free-kick to cancel out Lucas Paquetá’s 87th-minute penalty, which had seemed destined to secure all three points for the Hammers.

The match was an end-to-end encounter, with both teams creating a plethora of scoring opportunities. The first half was evenly poised, with both sides hitting the woodwork and goalkeepers Kepa and Łukasz Fabiański making crucial saves to ensure the score remained goalless at the interval.

As the match wore on, West Ham began to assert their dominance, with Paquetá and Carlos Soler combining effectively through the middle. However, Bournemouth’s wide attackers Antoine Semenyo and Dango Ouattara continued to pose a threat, and both went agonizingly close to opening the scoring.

The turning point arrived in the 87th minute, when referee Chris Kavanagh awarded West Ham a penalty following a recommended pitchside review for handball against Tyler Adams after the ball brushed his arm from an Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s cross. Paquetá coolly converted the spot-kick, sending Kepa the wrong way.

However, Bournemouth refused to give up, and Ünal’s spectacular 25-yard free-kick in the 90th minute ensured the Cherries earned a hard-fought point.

The result was a fair reflection of the match, which saw both teams create a staggering 45 goal attempts.

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui made two changes to his starting lineup, with Vladimir Coufal and Paquetá coming in for Emerson and Crysencio Summerville. With the draw, Lopetegui’s side remain in search of back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.
