Manchester City Welcomes Argentine Sensation Claudio Echeverri

Manchester City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Argentine midfielder Claudio Echeverri. The 19-year-old sensation, signed by the Club in January 2024, has now joined the first-team squad following a successful loan period at River Plate.

Echeverri’s time at Manchester has been marked with stellar performances locally and internationally. He played 48 games for River Plate, where he achieved four goals and eight assists. His leadership qualities emerged as he steered Argentina to second place in the Under-20 South American Championship, scoring six goals in nine appearances, some of which included a great outing against Brazil and Uruguay.

With his enthusiasm, Echeverri added: “I don’t know how happy I am to be in Manchester and to be able to say that I am a Manchester City player at last. Football has dominated my life, and my aspiration was to play for one of the best clubs in Europe. Today, I am nearer to the dream.”

Well known for his attacking prowess, Echeverri states that his style of play is one to become comfortable with taking on defenders and creating scoring opportunities. “I like to attack, go forward, and dribble. I also like to take on defenders and beat them. Hopefully, I can score, play well, and score a lot of goals,” he went on to say.

Manchester City Football Director Txiki Begiristain was over the moon with the signing: “Claudio is one of the finest young talents to have emerged in South America in the last two or three years. Everything natural is there—his touch, his technique, his finishing and his dribbling ability. Now our job is to build on those traits and turn Claudio into a world-class player.”

Echeverri’s signing for the team comes at a time when the team is facing a number of injuries. His versatility and high-energy playing style will be valuable assets to Manager Pep Guardiola as the season goes on.

Supporters will be able to witness Echeverri donning the number 30 shirt, which was last worn by club legend Sergio Agüero. Discussing this honor, Echeverri said: “The Kun is a Manchester City idol for everything that he did. It’s an enormous pleasure to be here.”
