Nico Gonzalez is fit for the Champions League Clash Against Real Madrid
Manchester City is thrilled to announce that midfielder Nico González has been declared fit and is available for selection in today’s UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium.
Recently transferred from FC Porto for £50 million, González injured during his FA Cup debut against Leyton Orient on 8 February 2025. After a strong tackle the 23-year-old Spaniard was replaced after 22 minutes, which raised doubts about his ready for next games.
Though he first had some doubts, González came back to complete training before the important Champions League match. Manager Pep Guardiola optimistically said, “I trust he can be available for treatment.” That kick was powerful there. We got a couple of days; we’ll look.
With their timely return, González strengthens City’s midfield choices as they get ready to play the defending European champions. His presence, complementing the team’s tactical approach against a strong Real Madrid side, should add more depth and flexibility.
Manchester City has had more good news concerning the injury front besides González&’s recovery. John Stones and Rúben Dias, both defenders, have bounced back and improved the defensive quality of the side leading into the important match.
The club thanks its coaching and medical personnel for helping González to recover so rapidly. Encouragement is given to fans to get behind the team as they carry on their European tour and to stay current with official club outlets.
