Jose Mourinho, the esteemed football manager currently at the helm of Turkish club Fenerbahçe, has provided an update regarding his health as he prepares for a minor surgical procedure in Portugal. The 61-year-old manager took to social media to reassure fans and followers about his well-being ahead of the surgery, which is set to address a gallbladder issue.

In a video posted on Instagram, Mourinho expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern from fans. He stated, “Happy Christmas and thank you so much for so many messages.” He clarified that while he will undergo surgery, it is a “quick and minor procedure,” dismissing any exaggerated reports about his condition. Mourinho emphasized his commitment to his role, stating, “I will resume training on the first day back from the holidays, as always. I’ve never missed a session in 25 years, and I don’t intend to start now.”

Mourinho did not delve into specifics regarding the nature of the surgery but confirmed that it involves the removal of his gallbladder. This procedure is relatively common and often performed laparoscopically, allowing for quicker recovery times. Fenerbahçe has since issued a statement confirming that Mourinho’s surgery was successful and that he is recovering well.

The timing of Mourinho’s surgery coincides with Fenerbahçe’s winter break in the Turkish Süper Lig. The club is currently positioned second in the league standings, trailing arch-rivals Galatasaray by eight points. Despite this gap, Mourinho remains optimistic about his team’s chances of clinching the title. He stated, “Nobody is going to convince me that even with the distance we have with the leaders we don’t have a chance to win. I refuse to think this way. For me, it’s still open.”

Mourinho’s determination reflects his competitive nature and commitment to Fenerbahçe’s success. He has been vocal about his desire to secure the club’s first league title since the 2013/14 season, and he believes that with hard work and dedication, this goal remains achievable.
