FC Barcelona is pleased to announce that midfielder Dani Olmo and forward Pau Victor have been officially registered with La Liga as of January 9, 2025. This significant development allows both players to participate in upcoming matches, including the highly anticipated Spanish Super Cup Final.
The registration follows a successful appeal to Spain’s National Sports Council (CSD), which granted the club provisional permission for the players to compete despite earlier complications regarding financial compliance with La Liga’s regulations. Olmo and Victor were initially registered for only half of the current season due to Barcelona’s inability to meet the league’s wage cap. However, after fulfilling necessary financial requirements, the club was able to secure their registration once again.
FC Barcelona’s management expressed relief and satisfaction at the decision. Head coach Hansi Flick stated, “We are thrilled to have Dani and Pau back in the squad. Their skills and contributions are invaluable as we strive for success in our upcoming competitions.”
The CSD’s ruling overruled previous decisions from La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), allowing Olmo and Victor to resume their roles within the team. The provisional nature of this registration is crucial as it permits the players to compete while a final resolution regarding their status is awaited.
Dani Olmo, who joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in a deal worth €48 million, and Pau Victor are expected to play pivotal roles in the team’s campaign moving forward. Their reinstatement not only bolsters Barcelona’s attacking options but also enhances their chances in both domestic and European competitions.
