In the wake of the latest Premier League transfer news and rumors, Chelsea Football Club is set to confirm a transfer of 17-year-old Brazilian left-back Denner Evangelista from SC Corinthians for €14 million plus add-ons. The move underscores Chelsea’s commitment to working with young talents around the world.

The transaction is for an initial payment of €10 million, complemented by €4 million in performance-related bonuses. Corinthians will also receive a 15% sell-on fee, assuring future financial benefit from any subsequent transfer of the player. Denner, who celebrated his 17th birthday on February 25, 2025, will remain at Corinthians until he is 18 years old in February 2026, as per FIFA regulations on international transfers of youth players.

Denner has rapidly worked his way up through the junior ranks at Corinthians, becoming a regular in the under-20 team. Although he has not yet appeared for the seniors, his performances have already caught the eye and he was included in Brazil’s under-17 national team most recently. Standing at 1.75 meters tall, Denner is praised for his solidity at the back, his intelligence on the pitch, and his capacity to take play forward—attributes that would be perfect for the modern fullback role.

This is one of Chelsea’s long-term plans of investing in young talent in a bid to build a sustainable future. The team has been scouting and bringing on board promising talents from around the globe, with the aim of creating a talent pool that will be able to fit into the high standards of football required. Bringing Denner’s services on board early, before he was eligible to be transferred, is proof of forward thinking in team planning and talent development by Chelsea.

Corinthians president Augusto Melo was content with the arrangement, commenting, “For a 16-year-old kid who has not yet set foot on professional levels, who is an expectation, who still has two years to stay at Corinthians because he can leave only when he is 18, it is a good sale, in a way.” This is in accordance with the mutually beneficial nature of the transfer, in that it provides Corinthians immediate money while allowing Denner to continue to improve in a domestic environment before being thrust into European football.

Upon joining Chelsea in 2026, Denner will be integrated into Chelsea’s development teams, and a tailored development plan will be employed to acclimatize him to English football. The club’s emphasis on youth players, coupled with its highly advanced training facilities, provides the ideal platform for Denner to grow to his potential.
