Brighton and Hove Albion late Tuesday night secured an important 2-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League, with substitute Danny Welbeck scoring the winning goal. Welbeck made an instant impact, netting the decisive goal just two minutes after coming off the bench. The striker latched onto Georginio Rutter’s through ball and slotted his shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga, sealing the win for Brighton.

Joao Pedro had given Brighton the lead from the penalty spot in the 12th minute, after being fouled by Arrizabalaga. The penalty was awarded after Pedro was brought down in the box, and he calmly converted the spot-kick to give Brighton the early advantage.

However, Bournemouth equalized through Justin Kluivert’s stunning curling effort in the 61st minute. Kluivert’s goal—a moment of individual brilliance, as he curled the ball into the top corner from 25 yards out.

Despite Bournemouth’s equalizer, Brighton’s substitutes made a significant impact, with Welbeck scoring the winner. The victory well saw Brighton to a fourth consecutive win in all competitions, lifting them to eighth place with 43 points from 27 games.

With this win, Brighton are now within three points of a top-four spot, keeping them firmly in contention for a European spot. Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s defeat, their third in four league games leaves them in seventh place, above Brighton on goal difference.
