- Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was in action as Sevilla pipped Celta Vigo 1-0 in Saturday’s La Liga game. The Nigerian international who was making his ninth appearance is yet to score a goal for Sevilla this ongoing season.
- Nathan Tella registered an assist as Bayer Leverkusen defeated Augsburg at the WWK Arena on Saturday. Martin Terrier opened scoring for the visitors on 14 minutes with Jeremie Frimpong providing the assist.
Tella set up Florian Writz for the second goal five minutes before the break. The 25-year-old has now registered two assists in 10 league appearances for the Bundesliga champions this season.
- Bruno Onyemaechi was on target for Boavista in their 3-2 loss away to Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese league on Saturday. It was Onyemaechi’s second goal in 14 appearances in the Portuguese topflight this season.
He scored his first goal in September in a 2-2 draw away to Estrela. In the game against Sporting Lisbon Onyemaechi scored in the 58th minute to make it 2-2.
- Gabriel Osho was on target for Auxerre who were held to a 2-2 draw by Lens in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday. It was Osho’s first goal for Auxerre since joining them from Luton Town in the summer.
The Super Eagles defender scored in the 73rd minute to make it 2-2 in the gane which he played for 90 minutes. With the draw, Auxerre are in ninth place on 21 points on the log.
- Super Eagles winger Moses Simon bagged an assist as Nantes lost 4-1 to Brest in Sunday’s Ligue 1 game. The Nigerian international who was making his 14th appearance, has netted four goals and bagged five assists this ongoing season for Nantes.
- Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo played for the entire 90 minutes as Tottenham thrashed Southampton 5-0 in Sunday’s Premier League game.
The Nigerian international, who was making his 15th appearance, scored two goals already for Southampton this ongoing season.
A heavy defeat that means Southampton are the only team in Premier League history to go in at half-time trailing by a five goal margin on multiple occasions.
They did so against Leicester City in October 2019 (0-5 HT, 0-9 FT) and on Sunday night. Southampton remain bottom of the table with just five points after 16 games.
