Liverpool’s pursuit of their first Premier League title since 2019-20 hit a snag as they drew 2-2 with Fulham at Anfield. The match was a thrilling and action-packed encounter, one that saw Fulham take the lead twice, only to be pegged back by the determined Liverpool side.

Despite being reduced to 10 men after Andy Robertson’s red card, Liverpool showed remarkable resilience to earn a point. The sending-off occurred early in the first half, with Robertson deemed to have denied a goalscoring opportunity when he took out Harry Wilson who was through on goal. VAR reviewed at length, and rectified on-field referee Tony Harrington’s decision.

Fulham’s opener, a well-worked goal, with Alex Iwobi finding Antonee Robinson, who teed up Andreas Pereira to score. Liverpool’s equalizer came immediately after the restart, courtesy of Cody Gakpo’s finish from Mo Salah’s cross.

Fulham regained the lead through substitute Rodrigo Muniz’s deft touch, but Liverpool refused to give up.

Diogo Jota, returning from an 11-match injury absence, scored the equalizer, combining with another substitute, Darwin Nunez before beating Bernd Leno.

The match ended in a frenetic fashion, with both teams creating scoring opportunities in the nine minutes of added time. Ultimately, Liverpool had to settle for a draw, which reduced their lead at the top of the table.

It’s only the second time the Premier League leaders, on a 19-game unbeaten run, have failed to win at home all season – they lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest in October – and means the gap at the top of the table is five points instead of a possible seven, before second-placed Chelsea play on Sunday.
