A subpar Arsenal performance ended in frustration as they drew 0-0 with Everton at the Emirates.
Mikel Arteta’s side welcomed back Gabriel to the defense, while Myles Lewis-Skelly retained his spot from midweek at left-back. The midfield trio of Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, and Martin Odegaard also started.
The game began with Arsenal dominating possession, but Everton’s deep defensive line limited their scoring opportunities. The visitors’ first chance came through Doucoure, whose close-range shot was blocked by Gabriel.
Arsenal’s best chances fell to Martinelli, Odegaard, and Saka, but their shots were either blocked by Tarkowski or saved by Pickford who was in top form all afternoon.
Despite Arteta’s late substitutions, including Jorginho, Ethan Nwaneri, Partey, Jesus, and Trossard, Arsenal couldn’t find the breakthrough.
Everton’s defensive solidity and Pickford’s saves denied Arsenal all three points, leaving Arteta’s side to settle for a frustrating draw on the afternoon.
The gunners have now missed successive opportunities to close the gap on league leaders Liverpool, while they still occupy third position on the log with 30 points.
