FC Bayern München is pleased to announce that captain and legend goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has agreed to a contract extension for another year until 30 June 2026. That means Neuer, who has been part of the team since 2011, is guaranteed to lead his team out again in what is now his 15th season with the reigning German champions.
Since joining from FC Schalke 04, Neuer has gone on to make an incredible 547 appearances for Bayern Munich, further cementing his place as one of the best goalkeepers in football history. His time at the club has been filled with unprecedented success, including 11 Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal victories, and two UEFA Champions League triumphs.
The shot-stopper, speaking after the extension of his contract, said, “I’m very happy to be able to continue playing for FC Bayern. My passion for football is still as great as ever, and I’m totally committed to our ambitious goals in the next few years.”
Max Eberl, board member for sport at FC Bayern, paid tribute to Neuer’s efforts: “Manuel Neuer is not only the best goalkeeper of his generation but a global icon. His leadership and consistent excellence have been key to our success, and we’re pleased to continue our cooperation.”

As Neuer approaches his 40th birthday at the end of this contract, his commitment is a further illustration of his excellent physical condition and his enduring passion for the game. His leadership on and off the pitch remains invaluable as Bayern Munich continues to strive for excellence in domestic and European competitions.
This extension ensures continuity and stability of the defensive line of the team and assures that the goal of Bayern will be safe. Neuer is vastly experienced and can lead the next generation of players within the team.
