The Final Draw for Africa Cup of Nations Scheduled for January 27

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to perform the Final Draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 today in Rabat. For the 24 national teams that have qualified for Africa’s leading football competition, this defining event will decide the group-stage pairings.

The draw will divide the 24 eligible teams into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group as well as the four best third-placed teams will progress to the Round of 16, thereby starting the knockout phase of the competition.

Having each negotiated a challenging qualification process to secure their tournament spot, these clubs reflect the top of African soccer.

Morocco hosting the AFCON for the first time since the 1988 edition. The country will also share the hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal, thereby further highlighting its increasing relevance in the worldwide soccer scene.

Patrice Motsepe, CAF President, expressed his excitement: “We are sure that AFCON Morocco 2025 will be very excellent and will be the best AFCON in the history of this tournament.”

The draw will be done using the FIFA World Rankings of December 2024 to provide a fair and challenging group stage. Fans from all over the continent and beyond eagerly await the results, expecting exciting games and the preservation of AFCON’s great soccer history.
