Liverpool Football Club is reportedly considering a move for Olympique Lyonnais’ attacking midfielder, Rayan Cherki, as the January transfer window approaches its conclusion. The 21-year-old French talent has garnered significant attention due to his impressive performances in Ligue 1.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool could still make a move to sign Rayan Cherki before the end of the transfer window.

Cherki has been a standout performer for Lyon, contributing significantly to their attacking prowess. His technical skills, vision, and versatility have made him one of the most sought-after young talents in European football.

Reports suggest that Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, is personally keen on acquiring Cherki to bolster the team’s creative options in midfield. The potential transfer fee is estimated to be around £18.6 million, a figure that reflects Cherki’s potential and current market value.

Fabrizio Romano has also highlighted a “gentleman’s agreement” between Cherki and Lyon’s president, John Textor, which could facilitate the player’s departure for a fee of €22.5 million (£19 million). This agreement indicates that Cherki is available for transfer during the current window, presenting a timely opportunity for interested clubs.

Liverpool’s interest in Cherki aligns with the club’s strategy to invest in young, dynamic players who can contribute to both immediate success and long-term development. Cherki’s ability to operate in various attacking roles would provide tactical flexibility and depth to Liverpool’s squad.
