FC Barcelona is actively advancing efforts to secure Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford during the current transfer window. This development follows AC Milan’s decision to prioritize the acquisition of Manchester City defender Kyle Walker over Rashford, influenced by Serie A regulations limiting the registration of non-EU players.

Rashford, 27, has found himself on the periphery of Manchester United’s squad under manager Ruben Amorim, having not featured since December 12. Expressing a desire for a new challenge, Rashford has attracted interest from several European clubs, with Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination.

Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, has acknowledged discussions with sporting director Deco regarding potential signings, emphasizing the club’s intent to strengthen the squad. The club’s recent return to the La Liga 1:1 salary cap rule facilitates greater flexibility in the transfer market, enabling pursuits like that of Rashford.

Negotiations are reportedly focused on a loan arrangement for Rashford, with Barcelona needing to free up approximately €6.5 million in salary space to accommodate the forward. This financial maneuvering is essential for compliance with league regulations and successful player registration.

The potential acquisition of Rashford is seen as a strategic move to bolster Barcelona’s attacking options, providing valuable support and depth to the forward line. As discussions progress, both clubs aim to reach a mutually beneficial agreement that aligns with their respective objectives for the remainder of the season.
