In the 59th minute, Liverpool equalized. Cody Gakpo fired a blistering shot into the far corner, leaving Onana with no chance of denying him. Gakpo sent Matthijs de Ligt to the ground as he quickly switched directions before taking his shot.
United launched another counter, earning yet another corner kick. Fernandes passed short to Amad, whose cross was easily blocked by Liverpool’s stubborn defense.
With little over 23 minutes to play, the referee awarded Liverpool a penalty after De Ligt’s arm struck the ball in the box. Salah stepped up to take the spot kick, and despite Onana’s best efforts, the ball went in, handing Liverpool a 2-1 lead.
Moments after the kickoff, Liverpool forced a corner, but United manager Ruben Amorim made a crucial substitution, bringing on Alejandro Garnacho for Kobbie Mainoo. The move paid off in the 73rd minute, as Garnacho pulled back a pass to Amad in the box, who found the back of the net with his first shot, leveling the score at 2-2.
The match ended with a thrilling conclusion, as both teams pressed for a winner. United had a grand opportunity to score a last-gasp winner, but Harry Maguire ballooned his effort over the top, and the match ended level.
