Arsenal marked their last away game of 2024 with a resounding 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
A triumph that saw them for the sixth time this year score at least five goals on the road.
Gabriel Jesus spearheaded Arsenal’s dominance, scoring two goals within the opening 20 minutes, following his hat-trick against the same opposition on Wednesday. Jesus’s first goal came in the sixth minute, courtesy of Bukayo Saka’s cross from the right, which the Palace defense failed to clear.
However, Palace swiftly equalized through Ismaila Sarr’s low shot past David Raya in the 12th minute.
The game’s frantic pace continued, and Arsenal reestablished their lead on their next attack. Jesus scored his second goal, capitalizing on a loose ball from a corner, which the Palace defense again failed to clear.
Kai Havertz extended Arsenal’s lead, scoring from close range after Jesus’s shot rebounded off the post.
In the second half, Gabriel Martinelli increased the advantage, turning in Declan Rice’s low shot. Rice then sealed the victory with a well-placed finish into the corner from the edge of the box.
This win marks Arsenal’s tenth consecutive game without a defeat, heading into their final match of the year against Ipswich Town next Friday.
Notably, Bukayo Saka made his 250th appearance for the Gunners, becoming the third-youngest player to achieve this milestone. However, Saka’s landmark appearance was cut short due to injury, and he was replaced by Leandro Trossard midway through the first half.
